Counseling - Adult Ministries

The Counseling and Support Group Ministry of First Baptist Church of Powell exists to provide biblical guidance and encouragement for individuals as they face inevitable times of trial.

The Bible is clear about the fact that all individuals will experience physical and/or emotional suffering at some point in their lives.  In 1 Peter 4:12 (NKJV), we are told, "Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you."

We believe that God desires for all people to enter a relationship with Him--a relationship in which they are totally surrendered to His will and completely dependent upon Christ as He lives His life through them.  God wants us to live in victory, not defeat!

Our lay counselors and support group leaders are First Baptist members who have been trained to provide guidance toward this life of dependence on Christ, which we call The Exchanged Life.

Financial Counseling
First Baptist has members who are qualified financial advisors who are available to guide individuals or families in developing budgets, debt recovery, and estate/retirement planning.  Throughout the year, First Baptist also provides discipleship courses that teach the financial principles found in God's Word.  Please check the church newsletter or the church website for times and locations of these courses.  To schedule an appointment with a financial counselor, please contact Jim Waddell at 947-9074.

Post-Abortion Ministry
The choice to have an abortion often brings emotional and spiritual conflict, which can affect one's life for many years.  If you have experienced any of these symptoms:  guilt, anger, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, anniversary grief, flashbacks of abortion, or relationship problems and you desire freedom and restoration, you may want to join a support group.  Your will experience God's healing love and acceptance.  For more information, call Gidget Deal at 688-4031.

To console those who mourn . . . to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.
