Welcome to First Baptist: Powell and Fountain City. We are one church with two locations. We would love for you to visit us at either of our campuses.

We are affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), which is the largest Protestant denomination in the United States.

You can read, and even listen to some sermons, on our faith and beliefs page. On our website, we offer many previous sermons in audio or video formats. We also have several years worth of audio series for your enjoyment.

We have many ministries for adults including a very active motorcycle ministry. Our senior adults are always on the go as well. We also offer a wonderful counseling ministry for times in life when you need guidance and understanding.

Our children and preschoolers are busy as well with many ministry offerings. The start of school signals our beginning of AWANAS with Christ-centered activities for the kids on Wednesday night. We have our yearly Kidzfest festival in the Autumn with Trunk or Treating and tons of activities. The summer brings Vacation Bible School (VBS) for all ages, and Summer Music Week (SUMUWE). Every Sunday morning the kids experience G-Force with lots of games, plays, and activities.

The College and Youth departments are very active as well. We also have two single groups: SALSA and SAM – both with their own lifegroup and activities.

We offer a live webcast of our Powell services every Sunday at 8:30am, 10:00am, and 6:30pm

Music
We offer a blended worship that is designed to appeal to a broad range of worship tastes, with elements of traditional and contemporary music to respond to the needs of a wide audience. The words to our music are projected on screens in the front of the worship center.

Sermons
Our pastors provide meaningful and inspirational messages that offer practical advice for daily living and enables us to grow in our relationship with God and others. Our sermons are biblically-based. We believe that Scripture is the primary guide for faith and practice, and should be the focus of spiritual instruction.  Scripture readings during services are usually taken from the New King James Version of the Bible.

Attire
Casual or traditional – it’s up to you.   We believe that the worship experience is much more important than what we wear. You will find some people in jeans and tee shirts, and others in suits with ties or in dresses. You won’t be out of place whether you decide to dress up or dress down. We only ask you be modest.

Attendance
At Powell, we average about 500 in each of our three Sunday services. At Fountain City, we average about 175.

Preschool
Nurseries are provided for infants and toddlers during all services. We are committed to providing a safe, secure, clean and nurturing environment. We utilize a computerized check-in/check-out system where parents and approved guardians alone can gain access to their child.

Children
A children’s church, called G-Force is provided during morning service for grades K-5 as well as Lifegroups. On Sunday evening, children ages 4 and up attend the regular church service.The AWANA program is provided on Wednesday evenings.

Youth
Grades 6-12 attend the regular church service. Lifegroups are also provided. On Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m., the youth have their own worship service.
