Welcome to First Baptist Church!
We are excited about your interest in learning more about church membership. We view every member at First Baptist as active participants, not as just another name on our roll.
As a prospective or new member, we want to help you make a solid connection to the life and family of the church.
Our membership process is a little different than most churches but it is fairly simple. The following information provides an outline of our membership process.
1. Attend First Step.
Each Sunday morning at 10:30 our First Step Class meets in the office reception area. Any of the workers at the Welcome Center LifeGroup Table will be glad to help you find the church office. The class is usually led by our preaching elder’s wife, Kathy Jones. Over about an hour or so, Kathy will share some information about First Baptist Church and our expectations for church membership. She will also answer your questions (or make a note for further follow-up to get you answers). Kathy also will provide detailed information regarding the entire membership process.
2. Complete the Membership Application.
Before going to the New Member’s Class (see below), we ask that you complete a Membership Profile. You can submit it by email, by saving the pdf and adding it as an attachment, and sending it firstname.lastname@example.org or bring it with you to the New Member’s Class. This helps us to get to know you a little better, and serves as a roadmap to assist us in getting you plugged in to the life of the church.
There are a couple of optional tools available for you to complete. We have found both of these tools to be helpful in fostering relationships in church community, and providing appropriate ministry opportunities for every member. There is a Spiritual Gift Profile and a Personality Profile: Uniquely You. Should you choose to participate, each of these tools will take as little as 10 minutes, and no more than 20 minutes, to complete. If you choose to complete a hard copy, please bring it with you to the New Member’s Class. Once you have completed either or both of these, one of the church elders will share the results of the assessment, as well as some possible practical applications.
3. Attend New Member’s Class.
There are two options for attending our New Member’s Class.
Kathy Jones will review the options with you during the First Step Class, and follow-up for scheduling your participation over the following week or two.
