On Father’s Day 2010, First Baptist Church launched the Ark of Hope Ministry. This adoption and orphan care ministry was born from a burden God had placed on the hearts of several FBC families and church leaders that we should be doing more to help the fatherless. Our desire is to glorify God by obeying His command to care for the orphan (Isaiah 1:17; James:1:27) and to increase awareness in the church to the plight of the orphan. The Ark of Hope will pursue the three primary channels of ministry listed below to accomplish this.
Orphan Care – The ministry will seek opportunities to provide for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of orphans and waiting children.
International and Domestic Adoptions – The ministry will encourage, educate, and provide ongoing support for those God leads to adopt children internationally or domestically.
Foster Care and Foster Care Adoption – The ministry will encourage, educate, and provide ongoing support for those God leads to become foster parents and those He leads to adopt children through the foster care system.
Also on Father’s Day, First Baptist Church committed to fully sponsor 23 orphans currently being cared for by one of our ministry partners in Kenya. We intend to provide funding and support so our ministry partner can house and care for 75 additional orphans in 2011.
If you are considering adoption or becoming a foster parent, please feel free to contact David Trent the Elder of Family Ministry at 947-9074 for more information.
