The Men’s Ministry of First Baptist Church seeks to glorify God by:
Encouraging men to enter a totally surrendered relationship with God – Romans 12:1
Enabling men to understand and appropriate their identity and resources in Christ – Ephesians 1:3
Equipping men to be Spirit-filled servant-leaders in their home, church, community, and world– Acts 4:31
In 2 Timothy 2:2, the Apostle Paul gives Timothy, his son in the faith, a charge. This charge was for Timothy to pass along to other faithful men the scriptural and spiritual instructions Paul had entrusted to him. These faithful men, Paul says, should be men who could be trusted to pass along these instructions to others as well. This charge, given to Timothy nearly two-thousand years ago, has become the foundational element of our Men’s Ministry.
Out of this mentoring mindset has developed the Guiding Paths Ministry. Initiated by the single mothers in the church, this ministry seeks to minister to their sons by providing male role models and fellowship opportunities in men’s activities. Once a month, this group gets together to do “guy stuff” in hopes that healthy bonding takes place so these young men can see what being a godly man looks like.
Small Group Accountability
Many of our men meet together weekly in small bible study and accountability groups. The meeting times and locations are decided by each individual group.
Each year, FBC schedules a Family Ministry Month in May. For the entire month, the Sunday morning sermons focus on family issues and the church provides opportunities for family to grow and have fun together. We always begin this event with a Men’s Conference. A notable guest speaker is invited to come and teach and challenge our men to become all that God desires them to be.
Men who participate in this ministry are strongly encouraged to serve others. On the third Saturday of every month at 8:00 a.m., the men meet for breakfast and a time of ministry focus. Guest speakers who are ministry leaders in the church take time to highlight their ministries and encourge other men to get involved. We alternate meeting sights between the Powell and Fountain City Campuses
