Worship Ministry

Thank you for visiting the Worship Ministry page.  Our goal is to fulfill the church’s mission of helping people to CONNECT by encountering God, to GROW by deepening their faith and knowledge of Him, to SERVE by glorifying Him through ministry, and to SHARE by obeying the call of the great commission.  Everything we do should be centralized on glorifying God.  Our hearts should reflect an attitude of worship so that Jesus Christ is praised, exalted, magnified and obeyed. This attitude should be lived out daily in every aspect of our lives.

Worship, according to Romans 12:1, is all of life.  Therefore, all functions of the church, in the end, are worship.  Discipleship is worship, service is worship, missions are worship, ministry is worship, etc.  As a church body, we are learning what it means to live a lifestyle of worship.  That is to respond with all that we are to all that God is.  Corporate worship is one of the many ways that we as believers respond to God, and those that serve in the worship ministry help model a proper response to God as we lead the congregation.

Concerning the style of worship, we believe a biblical approach to corporate worship is BALANCE.  We are encouraged to “sing a new song,” (Psalm 149:1), and to “speak to one another with hymns, psalms, and spiritual songs.” (Colossians 3:16).  The Bible also says, “The Lord is in His holy temple.  Let all the earth be silent before Him.” (Habakkuk 2:20)  Scriptures also commands us saying “clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph!” (Psalm 47:1)

There are four ministry teams that help in the leading of corporate worship:

Adult Choir – This is a group of Christian believers whose spirit and intent conforms to the belief that we are the lead worshippers of the church body, serving as a companion to the ministry of the preaching of God’s Word.

Orchestra – This group is an active team of loving people committed to serving the Lord by using their gifts and talents to help accompany worship through music on a weekly basis.

Praise Team – This group is a selection of auditioned singers who provide worship leadership in the choir’s absence.

Technical Ministry – This group is a team of volunteers that are responsible for sound, lighting and multimedia presentations. They are a vital part of the Worship Ministry.

Our worship team has a diverse musical repertoire – Southern Gospel, modern praise and worship, contemporary and classical music.  Each one of us has our own personal preference, but if we don’t understand God’s purpose for music in worship, musical style can be misused.  Even worse, it can rob God of the glory He deserves. So, we want to provide the best music available that will enable the congregation to genuinely and consistently magnify the greatness of the Savior in their hearts, minds and wills.

What style of music can be expected in the worship service?  There is a mix of everything from traditional hymns with contemporary arrangements to songs from current songwriters like Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, Lincoln Brewster, and Keith Getty.  Click here for some audio clips of music that you may hear in one of our services.

There is an understanding that our gifts and talents are from God and we have received them to be used for His glory.  If you are interested in a particular area in which you feel led to serve, please contact a member of the music staff for more information.

In Christ,

Stephen C. Burnett
