Praise Team Audition Information
The role of the Praise Team and Worship Choir at FBC-Powell is to effectively facilitate the worship of Jesus Christ. Our goal is to take the ministry seriously. For this reason we recommend that only those who feel called to this ministry and are willing to commit their time, plan to audition. If the Lord has led you to consider auditioning, here are the musical, spiritual, and time parameters required of each member. Please read these guidelines prayerfully and carefully.
SPIRITUAL COMMITMENTS:
All potential team members should:
1) Be a professed and practicing follower of Christ
2) Be involved in a weekly Life Group
3) Prepare your heart for worship daily through prayer and Bible study
4) Enter each worship time with a humble heart, focused on glorifying God
(I Corinthians 10:31)
MUSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
All potential team members should:
1) Be able to sing from sheet music or by ear
2) Demonstrate suitable range and accurate pitch
3) Perform well with others and not “stand out” vocally
4) Sing straight tones —vibrato will make a voice stand out more than any other vocal quality
5) Distinguish and sing different musical styles
TIME REQUIREMENTS:
All potential team members should:
1) Be able to attend weekly choir rehearsal faithfully
2) Be willing and available for extra rehearsals, when needed
3) Be ready to begin singing at the scheduled warm-up/sound check time before the worship service
4) Clearly understand that all music must be studied each week, a task which may require additional practice outside of choir rehearsal
Finally, we believe flexibility and sensitivity to God’s leadership are very important in worship. Changes in scheduling and other aspects of this ministry will occur. Potential team members must be comfortable with rapid change and flexible during corporate worship in order to have a good experience in this ministry.
